Turns out the chains have various thicknesses based on the speed. Changing the alignment to clear a tire is likely to cause shifting or clearance problems. The problem i have is that even in its lowest position the chain on the smallest.

But One Would Wonder Why You Are Asking This Question, Is This A Brand New Big Box Bike?

Front derailleur slight touching chain. Wound spring inside mechanical front derailleur. There is no bent or damage on front derailleur.

The front derailer should only touch the chain when shifting front gears. It doesn't make any noise or anything even on the lowest gear. The fd was designed for a thinner 11 speed chain, i was using a thicker 8 speed, and no amount of play with the limit screws could fix it.

Recently I Tried Adjusting My Front Derailleur (Shimano 6800) So That It Wouldn't Rub My Chain When I Was In The Highest Gear.

The front derailleur low/top limit settings depend. Investigating other compatible derailleur configurations is a possibility ( e.g., changing from top swing to bottom swing, etc. The derailleur should be set to shift correctly and provide proper clearance for the chain.

Were You Recently In An Accident?

Ultegra r8000 front and rear derailleur; Don't over do it as this may make the chain come off, just enough so you get a nice gear change with no catching. If the derailleur cage is rotated too far from this position, it will shift poorly.

The Screws On The Derailleur Are The Limit Screws, Basically They Are What Stops You Accidentally Shifting The Chain Over The Top And Bottom Of The Chainrings At The Front.

Put the dear in the lowest gear (large cog at the back and small cog at the front) and then turn the screw so the fd arm is just clear of the chain. So it seems that there is not enough space between chain and crank arm for my front derailleur and i can't understand why. I've tried to adjust the limit screw but it already feels loose, and further.
